In my practice I strive to offer a safe space for children and youth to be seen and heard. I adopt a strengths-based perspective to support children and youth. Through our interactions, I use curiosity to uncover the ways in which they respond to the challenges they face, and together we draw on the strengths, resourcefulness and insight they carry to generate possibilities for growth.
My therapeutic style involves a collaborative approach with cultural humility at the forefront. Response-based practice, brief-solution focused therapy, and family systems perspectives influence my theoretical orientation to counselling. I use a variety of talk and play therapy tools in the counselling room, and I adapt my approaches to best support the needs of whom I am working with.
